Jirásek Bridge is one of Prague’s most distinctive bridges from the interwar period. Its six reinforced-concrete arches connect Nové Město with Smíchov, while details of its Functionalist design, from the concrete railings to the distinctive lamp posts, still catch the eye today. It was built between 1929 and 1933 to designs by Vlastislav Hofman and František Mencl, and its history also holds several remarkable stories. The bridge offers beautiful views of the Vltava, the Dancing House and Prague’s historic skyline.
