Svatopluk Čech Bridge

Čechův most

It is said that Prague built this bridge simply to show off. It may be the city’s shortest bridge, but it is also one of its most beautiful. This bridge, built between 1905 and 1908 and the only major Art Nouveau bridge in Czechia, forms a continuation of elegant Pařížská Street and connects Staré Město with nábřeží Edvarda Beneše below Letná. At both ends of the bridge, bronze winged figures of Victory holding flowering branches immediately catch the eye, along with reliefs on the lamp posts and the striking statues of hydras and torchbearers on the pier heads. With its ornate greenish riveted-steel structure, it has been a protected technical monument since 1958.
