Prague, too, has a bridge whose structure immediately sets it apart from the rest. Follow the river upstream from the city centre and you will reach Výtoň, which is connected to the bank at Smíchov by the double-track Railway Bridge, with pedestrian walkways running alongside it. Its iconic silhouette has been an inseparable part of the view towards Vyšehrad since 1872, just as Charles Bridge has long formed an integral part of the Hradčany skyline. The iron structure of the Railway Bridge also marks the end of the popular Vltava riverfront, which comes alive particularly in summer with farmers’ and flea markets, beer gardens and bars.
