The Story of the Astronomical Clock

Experience magical Prague, full of mystery, in a theatre where the age-old magic of puppetry comes alive and reality mingles with fantasy and legend. This original mechanical puppet show unites two of Prague’s unique treasures: the Prague Astronomical Clock and the legendary Říše loutek Puppet Theatre.

Directed by Janek Jirků, the production tells the story of Prague’s Astronomical Clock, its creators, and the characters that have accompanied it for centuries. An essential part of the project is the original score composed by Jiří Hradil. The suspenseful plot is lightened by Kašpárek, a traditional Czech comic puppet character who joins Master Hanuš in his workshop and draws audiences of all ages into the world of Old Prague legends with his characteristic humour.
This visual puppet production speaks the universal language of images and music, making it accessible to local families and international visitors to Prague alike.
