The FAMILY PERMAFROST exhibition project, featuring international participants, focuses on the themes of family and home. Whilst both concepts may seem banal and hollow in today’s media-saturated world, they serve as a testing ground for new experiences that examine the situation and state of contemporary society at its very foundations. We live in a world of rapid change and shifting values. This situation is also reflected in the expressive means of contemporary painting. As a highly sensitive yet critical platform of contemporary visual culture, painting – given its strongly subjective nature – has the potential to bring to the fore the interstices of these broader developments, which, within their suggested contours, can reveal what mainstream society only perceives after a certain delay. The title of the exhibition refers both to the theme of the family and to the climate crisis, which is fatally disrupting humanity’s hitherto seemingly immutable certainties. date and time Wed—Sat 14:00—18:00
