A legend of Prague’s cultural scene, the multifunctional Lucerna Palace remains a popular destination not only for Prague residents. In addition to its famous cinema, you’ll find the popular Lucerna Music Bar, a dance hall, a stylish art nouveau café, a gallery, and a number of shops and restaurants. The palace’s arcade is dominated by David Černý’s original sculpture Horse, a controversial adaptation of the statue of St. Wenceslas on Wenceslas Square. One of Prague’s most interesting modern palaces was built between 1907 and 1920. The investor, organizer, and builder all in one was Ing. Václav Havel, a businessman whose grandson Václav Havel later became president.
