overview about the place The 24-meter-high statue of a woman, made of chrome-nickel polished steel by David Černý, has become the new landmark of the Karlín district. The figure of the mythical Lilith symbolically holds up the new Fragment residential building. Always after midnight, the 35-tonne statute turns its head by 180 degrees. more about the place Lilith is not the only sculpture decorating the building. This architecturally unique apartment block opposite the Invalidovna is also flanked by two further sculptures in the form of an upper and lower limb, which, together with the main sculpture, are intended to symbolise sociality and community. Viewed from above, the Fragment building resembles a reclining figure. Its façade consists of unconventional, pixelated blocks (i.e. fragments), which nevertheless form a compact, coherent whole. The building was completed in 2023. The Lilith sculpture was installed on 1—2 October 2022.
