On Saturday, June 13, Prague’s museums and galleries will open their doors to visitors at an unusual time, from 7:00 p.m. until midnight. Prague residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to visit selected institutions for free or at a discounted admission price and experience them in a unique nighttime atmosphere. Exhibitions, displays, and cultural landmarks will come alive with special programs promising extraordinary experiences. This year’s Prague Museum Night is once again organized by the Museum of Prague. This event is a cultural phenomenon with a long tradition across European cities and ranks among the most-visited cultural events in the capital. It offers a unique opportunity to discover the richness of Prague’s culture at an unusual time and in a different light. Set out to explore familiar places in a new way and immerse yourself in the nightlife of Prague’s cultural institutions.

The main venue will be the area in front of the Main Building of the Museum of Prague at Florenc

The entire program, both in front of and inside the Main Building of the Museum of Prague, is free of charge.

  • Outdoor program starting at 4:00 PM; building opens at 6:00 PM
  • Concerts (Timea, Pexeso, Lake Malawi)
  • workshops, children’s program, relaxation zone
  • evening video mapping (based on the museum’s collections) starting at 10:00 PM
  • refreshments and a relaxation zone
  • an illuminated model of the Moon, “Lunalón,” loaned for this event by the Brno Observatory and Planetarium. A smaller, four-meter model will be
  • placed on Mariánské Square along with an information booth for the entire event.

More than 60 museums, galleries, and other cultural venues will participate in this year’s edition.

A major new feature this year is the participation of the National Gallery in Prague, meaning visitors will be able to view the collection exhibitions at the Schwarzenberg, Šternberg, and Salm Palaces for free — Old Masters I; Old Masters II; Asian Art Across Space and Time. Plus a performance program in the garden of the Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia.

The Rothmayer Villa and Signal Space will also be participating for the first time.

The Prague Public Transport Company, in cooperation with ROPID, will provide additional transport between the event locations during Prague Museum Night. More information on schedules here. Another partner of the event will be the Rekola bike-sharing service, which visitors will be able to use with a special discount code.
