From 20 November to 6 December 2026, Prague will host the 31st Prague German-Language Theatre Festival, a long-established showcase of the most exciting developments in contemporary German-language theatre. Each year, the festival brings outstanding theatre companies, directors and productions from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other German-speaking countries to the Czech capital. This year's edition is held under the motto (GE)WISSEN / (S)CONSCIOUSNESS, a theme that will resonate throughout the programme and inspire productions exploring questions of knowledge, understanding, responsibility and human experience. The main program is accompanied by exhibitions, video installations, popular theater trips, expert lectures, and smaller Czechia-German projects. All performances are interpreted through subtitles. Tickets will go on sale via GoOut starting November 2, 2026. The festival was founded in 1996 by writer and playwright Pavel Kohout, originally as the German Theater in Prague. More
