Prague — various places

The Khamoro Roma Festival, one of the largest Roma festivals in the world, showcases the richness of Roma culture and traditions every year. The centerpiece of the program is Roma music, an important part of the world’s cultural heritage, which captivates audiences with its energy and emotion. Visitors of all ages, regardless of gender or nationality, come together on the dance floor and in the halls. The festival, traditionally held during the last week of May, also offers a diverse accompanying program, including theater performances, exhibitions, dance workshops, and activities for children. Khamoro connects cultures, breaks down prejudices, and showcases the beauty of Romani art as an integral part of both Czech and global cultural heritage.

A major attraction every year is the traditional parade of participants, which draws the attention of the media, Prague residents, and tourists alike. During the parade, the performers dance and sing their way through Prague’s historic center all the way to Old Town Square. The parade, featuring a horse-drawn carriage, dozens of Romani musicians, and a hundred dancers in traditional costumes, will wind through the city center on May 29, accompanied by rousing Balkan brass music, traditional songs of Czech and Slovak Romani people, Hungarian czardas, and the passionate rhythms of Spanish guitars complemented by flamenco. Join the parade that will get the streets of Prague dancing. It departs at 12 noon from Wenceslas Square.
