We probably most often associate the name Kamil Lhoták (1912–1990) with paintings, but his body of work and involvement in the arts were far more extensive. He was also very active in the field of printmaking, producing some seven hundred works. His illustrations can be admired, amongst other places, in more than four hundred books which he illustrated. It is precisely these three main areas of the artist’s work that this exhibition, held at Villa Pellé, focuses on. The exhibition ‘Kamil Lhoták – Landscape of Dreams’ captures the artist’s work in its entirety, from his early steps in the 1930s to the culmination of his career in the 1980s, whilst introducing visitors to several key areas and themes that were defining and characteristic of Kamil Lhoták’s oeuvre.
