How to Touch the Sky brings a multimedia project by Barbora Šlapetová and Lukáš Rittstein to Prague Exhibition Grounds. The project was presented this year at the Biennale Arte in Venice, at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini museum. From 5 to 18 October, a large-scale installation will occupy the space in front of the newly renovated Industrial Palace, combining monumental sculpture, film, animation, and a distinctive narrative about encounters between different cultures. The exhibition is inspired by the artists’ thirty-year journey among the people of Western Papua and the experiences that profoundly shaped their artistic practice. Visitors will pass through the 120-metre-long installation Runway to the Temple, leading to a cinematic Sanctuary whose interior blends authentic footage, animated imagery, and symbolic references to themes of travel, identity, memory, and humanity’s relationship with the surrounding world. Offering an unconventional open-air experience, the exhibition invites audiences into an environment that transcends the boundaries of a traditional gallery. The accompanying programme will also feature guided tours with the artists and a closing dernissage celebrating the launch of the publication of the same name.
