Prague — various places

In the Czech Republic, we commemorate the All souls' Day on November 2. However, the Anglo-Saxon holiday of Halloween, which falls on October 31, and the Mexican Día de Muertos, which is celebrated between October 31 and November 2, are increasingly becoming part of our culture. The name Halloween is a shortening of All Hallows' Eve (the eve of All Saints' Day). Traditional symbols include carved pumpkins with candles inside, witches, ghosts, black cats, brooms, fire, monsters, skeletons, as well as vampires and zombies. Dia de Muertos, Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday of the dead and is one of the most popular and important holidays, understood as a happy reunion between the living and the dead. In Prague, you can experience the spooky atmosphere, or just pumpkin carving, in many places from October 25 to November 5.
