Galerie Entrance’s 2026 exhibition program is based on an ecological understanding of the forest as an interconnected organism in which trees, fungi, soil, and microorganisms form a network of sharing, cooperation, and memory. The inspiration comes from the book Finding the Mother Tree (2021) by forest ecologist Suzanne Simard, who, based on many years of research into mycorrhizal networks, demonstrated that the forest functions as an interconnected community. Of particular significance within this community are the so-called “mother trees”—old individuals that support the growth and survival of other organisms. Simard has thus fundamentally transformed the view of the forest from a space of competition to a space of collaboration. The exhibition takes its title from her book and presents three artists for whom nature has been a lifelong source of inspiration.

Jan Karpíšek combines painting with conceptual and environmental art. He incorporates natural processes and living organisms into the creation of his works and challenges the anthropocentric view of the world. His painting Krajinatělo (2014) can be understood as a metaphor for the mother tree and for the deep connection between humans and the landscape.

Petr Gruber works with the landscape as a space of memory, emotions, and inner experience. His nocturnal forest scenes capture a quiet, mysterious environment on the border between reality and imagination. At the same time, they evoke the transformation of Czech forests due to commercial exploitation and ecological crises.

In her drawings and paintings, Lenka Falušiová explores the forest as a space of silence, concentration, and inner experience. Here, trees emerge as distinct beings and symbols of resilience, memory, and care. The exhibited works evoke the majesty of solitary trees, which can be perceived as the imaginary mother trees of the forest community.

The exhibition brings together three distinct artistic approaches and draws attention to what transcends the human perspective—what nourishes and sustains us, while also requiring our care and respect.
