The opening concert of the Dvořák Prague festival series at Bořislavka will be a benefit event, with proceeds from ticket sales going to support exceptionally talented young musicians.

Cellist Tomáš Jamník drew inspiration from the legacy of Otakar Ševčík, the legendary violin pedagogue, to create an extensive educational programme for exceptionally talented students of performance art. A key factor in the project’s success is Tomáš’s ability to bring together colleagues and friends who represent the highest level of artistry and pedagogy — Josef Špaček, Jan Fišer, Jiří Kabát, Lukáš Vondráček, Markéta Cukrová, and Jakub Hrůša are all involved whenever their busy concert schedules allow.

At the international summer courses, attended by numerous students from both the Czech Republic and abroad, Ševčík’s legacy continues to flourish. The Ševčík Academy in Horažďovice is the realisation of Tomáš Jamník’s vision — showing how, in the 21st century, instrumental teaching can be combined with the development of pedagogical knowledge, opportunities for public performance, and, above all, the creation of unforgettable experiences.

Each age group has its own tailored programme, yet many activities are shared, allowing even the youngest participants to be inspired by their older peers.
