Das Filmfest is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and once again brings the most interesting films from German-language cinema. This anniversary edition will feature dozens of award-winning films from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Czech premieres of notable new releases, and opportunities to meet the filmmakers in person. The program will also include two exceptional anniversary screenings: the Oscar-winning drama The Lives of Others and the legendary silent film How the Golem Came into the World, with live musical accompaniment by the St. Nicholas Choir of Hamburg. The festival will take place in October and November in Prague, Brno, Olomouc, and Ústí nad Labem.

The festival will feature nearly thirty award-winning films, including twenty new works by prominent directors and exceptional debuts in the main program. The program combines a wide variety of genres, artistic approaches, and perspectives on the world around us — from captivating family stories and films about finding one’s own path, through socially urgent dramas, to gripping thrillers, unconventional comedies, and documentaries. Among the award-winning films are, for example, the mysterious story of loss and reconciliation Everytime, the fast-paced drama Heroine, the political thriller Justice, and the emotionally charged drama Gentle Monster. Many screenings will be introduced in person by their filmmakers.

All films will be shown in their original language with Czech subtitles.
