The International Book Fair and Literary Festival is the largest celebration of books in the Czech Republic. It offers a diverse program filled with discussion panels and author readings, providing opportunities to meet writers and literary experts. It is precisely their openness and welcoming attitude that have long contributed to the popularity of the Book World event. The program also includes professional seminars, conferences, publisher presentations, and meetings with authors. The festival considers all generations and reading interests — from children and young readers to science fiction and fantasy fans, all the way to lovers of contemporary Czech fiction and non-fiction. Book World Prague 2026 will be inspired by a quote from Milan Kundera and will thematically focus on the relationship between literature, memory, history, and freedom. From May 14 to 17, at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, in the Křižík Pavilions, and in the hall on Bruselská Street, it will offer a distinctive program featuring prominent European and international authors, including Paul Murray, Daniel Glattauer, Timothy Snyder, and Raja Shehadeh. Three thematic strands — “Europe,” “History,” and “Literature as the Voice of Freedom”— will be reflected in debates, author readings, and new festival formats. → Programme date and time 14. 5. 9:30— 19:00 15. 5. 9:30—19:00; Friday’s program in the halls until 9:00 p.m. 16. 5. 9:30—19:00 17. 5. 9:30—16:00
