From September 17 to 20, a unique Czech meadow made of LEGO® bricks will be created at the Prague Botanical Garden, and visitors themselves can become part of it. Everyone will be able to build their own flower inspired by Czech nature and add it to the collective installation, which will gradually bloom, literally flower by flower. In a playful way, visitors will learn about the stories of rare and endangered plants in our countryside. The centerpiece of the project will be a model of an open pasque flower, over two meters tall and made from tens of thousands of LEGO® bricks, highlighting both the beauty and fragility of Czech nature. Visitors will be able to choose one of five plants, build it, and become part of this unique mosaic. The communal meadow will be inspired by five plants found in the Czech countryside. Some of them are very rare today and are disappearing from the wild in many places. Open-flowered pasqueflower Its blue-violet flowers turn toward the sun on sunny days to soak up as much warmth as possible. Today, it is one of our rarest plants. Mountain arnica You can go in search of its distinctive yellow flowers in places like the Krkonoše Mountains or the Šumava Mountains, where it grows primarily in mountainous and foothill areas. Gray Aster An exceptionally rare species that was last recorded in southern Moravia approximately 200 years ago near what was then a salt lake near Měnín. Leafless Iris It was first described in 1794 in Chuchle, Prague, where it can still be found today. It also grows, for example, in the Czech Central Mountains, the Bohemian Karst, and the Kokořín region. Golden-headed Lily This striking pink-flowering lily grows primarily in light deciduous forests and along their edges. A visit to the Czech Meadow exhibit is included in the regular admission fee to the Prague Botanical Garden, and no prior reservation is required.The exhibit’s capacity is approximately 60 visitors per hour.
