Credential — Pilgrim Passport We warmly welcome all pilgrims who set out on their journey to visit us at the Tourist Information Centre in the Old Town Hall and at Prague Castle. It is here that you can collect your credential and begin your pilgrimage, blessed with the first stamp and a quiet decision to take the first step. The credential will accompany you as your pilgrim guide on the road to Compostela. Don’t forget to bring a small stone with you — many pilgrims carry one from home as a symbol of their worries, sins, or intentions. This small stone, borne with prayer and an open heart, is traditionally left at sacred places along the way, most often at Cruz de Ferro — as a sign of surrender, trust, and inner purification. Pilgrimage trails page St Ludmila Trail If you decide to embark on the St Ludmila Trail, you will visit locations where the early medieval Czech nation was founded more than a thousand years ago. You will see the fortress where the Přemyslids determined the political organisation of the country, where Prince Wenceslas learned Latin and where Princess Ludmila passed away. You will wander through a landscape in the very footprints of Czech history. What could be more tempting? page St Gunther’s Way St Gunther’s Way, winding through the Czech-German borderlands, has finally been extended. Hikers can now follow the historical paths all the way to the Břevnov Monastery, where the former diplomat, saint and first inhabitant of Šumava – St Gunther – is buried. page Cyril and Methodius Route The Cyril and Methodius Route is an international trail that is part of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes network. The trail connects places associated with the legacy of St Cyril and Methodius, the apostles of the Slavs. In the Czech Republic, it currently consists of five main routes – known as rays – which lead to Velehrad in Moravia.
