Poutní místo Panny Marie Vítězné na Bílé hoře

  • baroque

The Baroque complex was built between 1704 to 1730on the site of the Battle of White Mountain. The central pilgrimage site comprises a church with a cross-shaped floor plan with a central shrine, surrounded by a cloister with chapels and a convent of Benedictine nuns. The three cupolas of the church dedicated to Our Lady Victorious feature impressive frescoes by three artists — Cosmas Damian Asam, Václav Vavřinec Reiner, and Johann Adam Schöpf. The design of the church dome, cloisters and corner chapels is probably the work of Jan Blažej Santini Aichel. The initiator and leader of the patrons financing the construction was Prague painter Kristián Luna.
