Petřín Gardens In the park on Nebozízek; in 1910—1912, Sculptor Josef Václav Myslbek and Architect Antonín Balšánek created a bronze monument of Karel Hynek Mácha (1810—1836), famous Czech romantic poet and writer.

One of the most popular Prague statues, it is a symbol of eternal youth and love, in which the author’s most famous poem May plays the main part. The poet stands with his right hand lightly leaning on the wall, on which there is an open notebook, holding a bouquet of lilacs in his left hand. The pedestal is of polished granite.
