overview opening hours admission The Příbram Mining Museum is one of the largest museums in the Czech Republic and one of the largest mining museums in Europe. The sightseeing areas consist of the Ševčin shaft excavated in 1813 on the site of an older mine from the 16th century, the original mining facilities of the Vojtěch mine founded in 1779, the Anna mine founded in 1789 and the underground premises of the Drkolnov mine from 1836. As part of the tour it is possible to see the huge water wheel in the Krkolnov mine, which pumped water from beneath the surface, or experience an underground ride on a 51-metre-long slide, ride the mining train to the Ševčin adit and see other smaller expositions. The museum also presents mining folklore in an original mining cottage with foundations from the 17th century and valuable mineralogical and geological collections, including a unique silver specimen, the largest in any European museum. opening hours january—march mon closed tue—fri 9:00—16:00 sat—sun closed april mon closed tue—sun 9:00—17:00 may—june mon closed tue—fri 9:00—17:00 sat—sun 9:00—18:00 july—august mon closed tue—sun 9:00—18:00 september—october mon closed tue—sun 9:00—17:00 november—december mon closed tue—sun 9:00—16:00 more about opening hours admission Admission is charged separately for each area and you can choose from a variety of tours.
