Mělník Chateau and the wine cellars of Jiří Lobkowicz

share

Above the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava rivers and a slope covered with vineyards lies Mělník Chateau, whose current appearance is the result of a thousand years of development, from a Romanesque and Gothic castle of Bohemian duchesses and queens to the Renaissance and Baroque chateau of noblemen. During a tour of the chateau interiors, you can see the art collections of the Mělník branch of the Lobkowicz dynasty and the Gothic chapel dedicated to St. Ludmila. A popular part of any visit to Mělník Chateau is a tour of the wine cellars with optional tastings of wines from the Lobkowicz winery. The surface area of the cellars is 1,500 m², and the constant temperature in them ranges between 8-12° C.
