It serves professionals and students of caring professions as well as interested lay persons. The library cooperates with the National Library of Medicine, professional libraries and other public libraries. Through the interlibrary loan service, it provides access to its collection to users from all over the country. The building is accessible from the intersection of Michelská and U Plynárny Streets, a 3-minute walk across the Sue Ryder Bridge to Heleny Kočvarová Street. The nearest bus and tram stops are “Michelská”. The collection currently consists of approximately 4,500 books, audio media and electronic documents. Approximately one quarter of them are purchased abroad; most of them are titles unavailable in domestic libraries. In the library’s collection you will find not only specialist books in the medical, nursing and psychosocial fields, but also fiction and audiobooks. The entire catalogue is available online. Books can be reserved and renewed via the Internet. Most books are borrowed by absentee (home), some books and electronic media are borrowed by attendance only (to the study room).
