From 1923 to 1928 Alphonse Mucha lived with his family at Podskalská street 7. This was at a time when the renowned painter was still staying at Zbiroh Castle, where he continued to work on the Slav Epic. He did however visit Prague quite often. The Muchas lived in the house shortly after it was completed, to a building project design by Kamil Hilbert, a significant Czech architect who participated, among other things, in the completion of the St Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle.
