Černokostelecký pivovar

The first mention of beer brewing in Kostelec nad Černými lesy was related to the promotion of the village to a town in 1489. The new-age history of the brewery began in 1836, when the brewery opposite the chateau burned to the ground, after which a new brewery and malt house were built in their present location. The brewery compound consists of three blocks of buildings, dominated by an important technical monument - the unique octagonal threshing floor with a horizontal horse-gin, most likely the largest structure of its kind in Europe. Incidentally, you can learn all about it during a tour of the extensive National Beer Brewing Museum, which has managed to bring together a unique collection of technological brewing systems at this site.
