overview opening hours about the place Bastion XXXI, also known as Bastion U Božích muk, is a remnant of the Baroque fortifications originating from the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries when the original Gothic system of defences was rebuilt. It was built when the New Town was founded by Emperor Charles IV in 1348, and Gothic masonry and Baroque structures have been preserved in the repaired outer bailey and ramparts. Bastion U Božích muk is not only a historically significant heritage site. Since its renovation, it has also become a lively space for meetings, exhibitions and various cultural events in the open air. A new restaurant building has been built into the ground on the site of a former 19th-century building. From the walls, visitors can enjoy impressive views of Vyšehrad, the towers of the Basilica of Sts Peter and Paul, Nusle, Smíchov, Malá Strana, and Folimanka Park, which can be reached by a spiral staircase. more about the place opening hours january—december mon—sun 10:00—0:00 more about opening hours opening hours january—december mon—sun 10:00—0:00 Bastion covers an area of approximately 990 m² at an altitude of 210—230 m above sea level, near the New Town walls between the streets of Na Slupi and Horská.
