Archbishop’s Seminary

Arcibiskupský seminář

The inadequate space for studies and constant disputes about the housing of the theological faculty in university buildings after World War I were finally resolved by Archbishop František Kordač with the decision to build the Archbishop’s Seminary in Dejvice — a building which has been the seat of the faculty since 1929, with some enforced breaks. The project was entrusted to František Havlen, who designed a four-storey main building with a U-shaped floor plan and a distinctive dome reminiscent of the Church of St. Peter in Rome. He situated a seminary church dedicated to St. Adalbert in the rear. The open space between the side wings and the church is occupied by two seminary gardens.
