Matějská pouť is the first spring fair in Prague and also the most visited event of its kind in the Czech Republic. Every year during the spring months, it takes place at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, which from February 21st for two months is transformed into a large entertainment center full of traditional and modern attractions for all age groups. Visitors can look forward to more than a hundred carousels, swings, chain carousels, bumper cars, haunted castles, houses of laughter, and other family and adrenaline attractions. The complex also offers a wide range of food and souvenir stands. There are traditional fairground specialties such as gingerbread hearts, cotton candy, and other sweet and savory treats that are an integral part of any fair. The Matějská Fair continues a long tradition dating back to 1595 and attracts thousands of visitors from Czechia and abroad every year.

Tickets can be purchased on site at three ticket offices.

Individual attractions have their own admission fees.

The tradition of holding the Matějská Fair has been archived in the National Library since 1595. It became famous because it was the first spring fair in Prague, celebrating the feast of St. Matthew, which was originally on February 24. The Matějská Fair is also the first spring fair in Europe.
