Oneohtrix Point Never, whose real name is Daniel Lopatin, is one of the leading figures of today’s experimental electronic scene. Lopatin’s live performance takes audiences on an audiovisual journey where video projections and lighting design highlight additional dimensions of his music. In his compositions, he blends the old and the new — samples, synthesizers, and acoustic instruments, fragments of archival television dialogues or 1990s commercials, and at times ventures into pop, alt-rock, minimalism, or noise music. His tracks can be dark at times, but they can also disarm listeners with a calm mood and the atmosphere of contemporary pop.
