The exhibition Scars and Other Fragments is just that. Intermedia artist Ondřej Kubeš works with fragments of his intimate history in a way that does not aim for completeness, but rather for the precise naming of what remains permanently unresolved. The gallery space is transformed into the artist's memory institution, based on a non-linear layering of traces, materials, and gestures. Kubeš's approach is deeply intimate, yet it does not come across as exclusively introspective. From small fragments of childhood, adolescence, and the formation of queer identity, he composes situations that allow for shared resonance. In his conception, individual objects become "little histories"—artifacts that do not belong to just one body, but open up to broader experiences shaped by silent, often painful processes of remembrance.
