Music for Eternal Hope

Hudba pro Věčnou naději (Music for Eternal Hope) Foundation was established with the aim of preserving and further developing the unique artistic legacy of Central European cultural values associated with the territory of today's Czech Republic, especially in the form of a music festival. Artists of Czech and German nationality, of both Jewish and Christian faiths, who were active in the first half of the 20th century, were suddenly and violently silenced by the events of the Second World War. The festival seeks to commemorate and come to terms with the past, to prevent any violence, hatred or other forms of discrimination based on racial, ethnic or simply cultural difference. This effort is reflected in the new creation and interpretation of live art and thus represents an arc linking almost a century of history, starting with the work of Gustav Mahler, going beyond the works of the inter-war and wartime generation of the so-called Terezin artists, and flowing into the contemporary work of, for example, Tigran Mansurjan.
