This year, Korzo Národní Festival will commemorate the 36th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. Once again, Národní Street will host a street festival in memory of those courageous enough to stand up to the totalitarian regime. The 12th edition features concerts, debates, podcasts, theatre, and exhibitions along Národní St. between the National Theatre and Jungmann Square.

During the revolution days in November 1989, there was one moment that became forever etched in the memory of our nation. It was the moment when people were finally able to freely listen to Marta Kubišová singing Modlitba pro Martu (Prayer for Marta) from the balcony of the Melantrich Palace after 30 years of oppression. The song became the anthem of the Velvet Revolution and a tradition of its celebrations.

And this year will be no different. At exactly 5:11 p.m., Jan Cina will sing it from the balcony of the Metro Palace, preceded by an audiovisual installation entitled What Can Words Do? The performance will be broadcast live by Czech Television and Czech Radio.
