The festival of Japanese film and culture presents Czech premieres of successful films from recent years as well as famous classics. Each year, films of different genres, ages, and notoriety in the Czech Republic are selected. The screenings of the 19th edition of the festival will take place in the main hall of the Lucerna cinema and will be in Japanese with Czech and English subtitles. The theme of the 2026 festival, “From the Heart,” is inspired by the ancient Japanese idea that artistic communication spreads “from heart to heart” — that is, through the emotions and personal connection of the viewer with the film. This approach emphasizes that films not only entertain, but also speak to us on a deeper, human level.
