Come with your children to the long-term exhibition, which encourages discovery, imagination and creativity! The extensive exhibition offers new perspectives on nature, people and their creations through interactive exhibits and game elements.

The exhibition in the New Building of the National Museum is intended for children from 4 years old. The Children’s Museum emphasizes the creative, imaginative dimension of learning about the world around us, the joy and fascination of discovering new, or new contexts in the already known. In place of the traditional separation of naturalistic and historical perspectives, the exhibition brings ten thematic units, in which views of nature, people and their creations are intertwined: development – from larva to butterfly, from horsetail to black coal; dwelling – how animals and people live; defense – from shells to armor; senses – perception in humans and other animals; record – stories hidden in geology and technology; fragility – the charm of delicate insect wings and rare ceramics; error – deviations from norms and rules as a source of uniqueness; movement – the flight of birds, the migration of flocks, but also the flow of data; luster – transitory and permanent luster of nature and human products; play – a universal principle across history and the animal kingdom.

The variety of themes permeates the entire exhibition, which is divided into three halls, each of which brings a different kind of visitor experience.

In the first hall there is a dominant game. The main feature is a unique interactive wall containing a set of games controlled by throwing balls. Each game represents one of the themes of the exhibition. In addition to the interactive wall, in the first hall there are also other game elements based on the themes of the exhibition.

In the second hall, recognition comes first. In the three-story, at first glance, traditional exhibition hall, not only classic showcases and exhibits await you, but also a number of interactive and game elements. The space is dominated by a globe – a massive spherical structure representing a fantasy planet, which hides a projection hall with a projection prepared in cooperation with ČT:D, as well as a game kiosk containing games from the workshop of the website Déčko.cz.

In the third hall there is a space dedicated to creativity. In it you will find worksheets for self-service creative activities related to the themes of the exhibition. Work tables and all tools are available on site. The third hall also houses the Children’s Museum librarian with books thematically linked to the exhibition.

On the way from the second to the third hall, it is possible to stop in the dark room – a darkened space behind the curtain, which is dedicated to the technique of classical photography. In it, you can familiarize yourself with the equipment of the photography laboratory and try out activities related to light projection.
