Restaurants that focus exclusively on innovative and high-quality vegetarian and vegan dishes are on the up and up, with more and more tasty vegetarian dishes also appearing on the menus of traditional restaurants.

lehká hlava (clear head)

One of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Prague and still a favourite venue for locals, even those who don’t stick to vegetarian dishes. The restaurant interior, in the charming Old Town street called Boršov is very unusual, the ceiling glittering with stars – while the building dates back to 1410. Lehká hlava constantly comes up with new imaginative delicacies that change to suit the season.

The sister restaurant of Lehá hlava offers a quiet oasis near the Old Town Square. Its interior follows Feng shui principles, with plenty of space (the restaurant spans two floors) with a whole host of vegetarian delicacies within. They cook vegetarian meals in ways that even non-vegetarians enjoy.

country life

We really must not forget to mention this family business, the first to bring organic food to the Czech market. In 1991 in the very heart of Prague, in Melantrichova street, they opened the first refreshment and health food store, their assortment now expanded to include natural cosmetics and products from their own organic farm and organic bakery. There are hot and cold vegan dishes, salads, sandwiches, burgers and much more for you to eat in a pleasing setting, whether indoors or at an outdoor table. If you want to take your food with you, bring your own container. Country Life prefers to sell without packaging, though they do have disposable bowls and boxes, which are exclusively eco-friendly.

sandokan vegan bistro

The name Sandokan reminds the older generation of a charismatic pirate from a TV series of the same name. Lovers of vegan cuisine will instantly think of the Vinohrady bistro, which prepares high-quality and fresh dishes, including gluten-free options. The self-service buffet offers a selection of vegetable salads and hot dishes, in any quantity.

spojka karlín (karlín connection)

Last but not least, we’ll recommend a restaurant that connects. It brings together at one table all those who want to eat well. Without prejudice and regardless of whether it is a vegan, vegetarian or meat lover. It is the first flexitarian restaurant in our country. Flexitarians have a predominantly plant-based diet, but do indulge in meat now and again, while paying close attention to its origin, mindful of health risks and environmental concerns. The à la carte menu of this upcoming Karlín restaurant includes vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat dishes, all in studiously guarded organic quality.
