The exhibition explores the return of heavy machinery and infrastructure systems to the center of our attention at a time when digital ideology promised their invisibility and “weightlessness.” Against the backdrop of current armed conflicts, ecological crises, and the collapse of visions of a sustainable future, machines are reemerging as ambivalent symbols of power, destruction, and anxiety. The project examines how technology, in contemporary imagery, appears as “infrastructural spectres” of modernity, bringing back into view the materiality, labor, and violence underlying the seemingly immaterial world of digital networks.
