Let yourself be swept away by the atmosphere of a blooming meadow, a mysterious forest, a picturesque village square, and a traditional cottage interior — the settings that form the backdrop for the folk performance of the Jaro Dance Group. Over the course of the evening, dancers of all generations will take the stage, from children as young as five, through youth, to the adult members of the ensemble, bringing a vibrant array of dances: children frolicking on the meadow, spring carols, Shrovetide merriment, and the spectacular circle dances of the adults. The performance will be accompanied by the music of the Jaro Band, led by Karel Mezera. Together, we will journey across the Czech lands, from Bohemia through Moravia (the Lašsko region) to Slovakia (Liptov). The highlight of the evening will be the dance suite Česká svatba (Czech Wedding), which will guide the audience through the individual parts of a traditional wedding celebration. The Jaro Dance Group, led by MgA. Živana Vajsarová, has been active in Prague since 1983. Over more than four decades of its artistic history, the group has received numerous awards both at home and abroad. It collaborates with dancers from Hong Kong and Japan, and has captivated audiences across the Czech Republic and around the world. The group has performed in among other countries, Germany, the Netherlands, Cyprus, the USA, Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, leaving a little piece of Czech folk joy wherever it goes.
