The exhibition will present rare works of sacred art from the Šumava region – from the late Gothic period to the present day. Its central exhibit will be the polychrome woodcarving Pieta from Podlesí (Vogelsang) from 1510–1520, attributed to Master Oplakávání Krista ze Zvíkova, which is one of the most valuable works of Czech late Gothic art. In addition to historical works, works by contemporary artists will also be on display, such as paintings by Kristina Maršíková Málková, Michal Vavrečka, and Dagmar Hamsíková, which show that Christian inspiration remains alive in today's visual arts. The exhibition will also include a high-quality, full-size replica of the Shroud of Turin, kept in Turin Cathedral, which is believed to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The cloth bears the image of a man bearing the marks of whipping and crucifixion described in the Gospels. Visitors will be able to taste egg specialties in the local Baroque café and toast with Velvary egg cognac. According to legend, Charles Bridge is the only bridge in the world built not only of stone, but also of eggs. And it is probably thanks to this unusual "recipe" that it has stood for more than 670 years.
