Réka Lőrincz is a Hungarian multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses sculpture, moving images, text-based art and contemporary jewellery. She works with recycled and found objects, which she freely reworks and places within new contexts of meaning. In her artistic practice, she engages with the reinterpretation of witchcraft and shamanism, through which she explores her own perception of the world. Her works can function as talismans that open up space for introspection and purification of the mind. In her artistic practice, Michaela Spružinová boldly sets herself apart from conventional approaches to working with glass in the Czech context, combining it with other materials. Using her own technique, she transforms waste glass into objects that serve as a commentary on the present day. She works with depictions of the human body in its natural state, thereby challenging entrenched social stereotypes about beauty and, with an authentic dose of sarcasm, exposing the fetishes of the consumerist world. The work of both artists can be viewed as a kind of self-portrait. Through personal experiences, they explore broader social themes, navigating the boundary between intimate expression and collective experience. Humour and hyperbole enable them to tackle serious issues with a light touch, without their works losing any of their urgency. Their work can thus be seen as distinctive forms of self-exploration that simultaneously reflect on and comment on the contemporary world.
