The Prague Spring International Music Festival is the most prestigious classical music event in the Czech Republic. With exceptionally broad international participation and a wide-ranging program spanning from the 16th century to the present, the festival is once again preparing an exceptional program for its fans from May 12 to June 4, 2026, featuring elite world-class orchestras and new faces making their Czech and festival debuts. Experience the unique atmosphere of Prague’s concert halls and historic venues. The 81st edition of the festival will feature more than sixty events, including 38 concerts, 19 workshops and masterclasses, and 7 accompanying events, such as the traditional Prague Spring Art Salon exhibition. A total of 97 artists, chamber ensembles, and orchestras from 28 countries around the world will perform. This year’s edition is exceptional for its large-scale vocal-instrumental projects and will also welcome a number of top orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, which is closely associated with Prague Spring’s founder, Rafael Kubelík. Martha Argerich will return to the festival after fifty-two years, and after three years, we can once again look forward to Finnish conductor Klaus Mäkelä. The festival will feature a recital by Eric Lu, the recent winner of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, and we can look forward to many festival debuts, particularly from the ranks of world-renowned vocal stars. Performing at the festival for the first time will be, for example, Elīna Garanča, Benjamin Bernheim, Kang Wang, and above all, Canadian soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan, the artist-in-residence for Prague Spring 2026. An entire generation of prominent Czech conductors will also be featured: Petr Popelka, Jakub Hrůša, Tomáš Netopil, Tomáš Hanus, Václav Luks, and Robert Jindra.
