At our exhibition, we would like to showcase precisely these simple decorative techniques, which lent a certain beauty to the objects. The exhibition will seek to bring together examples of objects bearing various traces of simple folk ornamentation. Naturally, we shall give priority to objects linked to Advent and Christmas. All this will then be complemented by nativity scenes, decorated Christmas trees and a wide variety of traditional objects created for this exhibition by our exhibitors, of whom there are usually over 150 each year. This year, the nativity scene exhibition in the Bethlehem Chapel aims to focus thematically on the fascinating phenomenon of folk ornamentation and to demonstrate the sensitivity with which ordinary people were able to embellish everyday objects with simple, unpretentious beauty.
