Renowned film director Guido Contini has created a series of unforgettable films. But when the time comes to make his next masterpiece, he finds that inspiration cannot be forced. Just one week before filming is due to begin, he comes under immense pressure and sets out on a personal journey to rediscover what once inspired his greatest stories.

Through memories, dreams and encounters with the women who have played a defining role in his life, he gradually begins to piece together fragments of his past and his own identity. Can he rediscover the spark that made him an exceptional filmmaker? Which memories will help him move forward, and which will keep him tied to the past?
