The Alternativa Festival is an annual Prague showcase of bold and inventive music, which since the early 1990s has presented an alternative to the uniform line-ups of commercial events. It focuses on new perspectives, the search for genre crossovers, and music that is not afraid to step out of the box. Since its beginnings, when the festival brought leading figures from the experimental, free jazz, and improvisational scenes, Alternativa has evolved into an open platform where legends and cult projects stand side by side with fresh talent from the domestic and international scenes. Thanks to one of the longest traditions among Prague music events, the festival creates space for unexpected international connections, custom-made premieres, collective curation, and encounters between audiences and the most progressive creators of today. Alternativa continues its mission to discover new soundscapes and offer listeners an authentic experience outside the mainstream.
