The international festival of contemporary dance and movement theatre, Tanec Praha 2026, is scheduled to run from June 1 to 23, encompassing various stages in Prague and spanning over 20 cities and towns across the Czech Republic. The program of its 38th year underscores the festival's remarkable evolution towards exceptional quality. The International Festival of Contemporary Dance and Movement Theatre Dance Prague is the annual highlight of the season. During its month-long duration, it will offer world-famous choreographers, as well as interesting young artists and workshops. Similar to Prague Spring, Tanec Praha presents a wide range of performances and introduces important names from the world of dance. The organisers consider the main mission of the festival to be to enable the general public to get to know the current trends and top works of dance-theatre disciplines. For Czech artists, Dance Prague is above all an inspiration and confronts the domestic scene with foreign leaders in the field. The 38th edition of the international festival TANEC PRAHA will be opened on the 1st of June, 2026, in the Ponec theatre, by the Lebanese-Spanish duo Guy Nader & Maria Campos, with their group of dancers and acrobats. Their performance Natural Order of Things has already enjoyed much critical acclaim. The equally prominent Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos will take care of the ceremonial closing of the festival on the 23rd of June in the Karlín Musical Theatre. My Fierce Ignorant Steps promises a thrilling spectacle. Twice, we will visit Jatka78, once with the exceptional, multi-talented Cameroonian artist Zora Snake, then again with the well known Greek-Slovakian duo Linda Kapetanea – Jozef Fruček. The Ponec theatre will open its gates to Israeli and Spanish artists in two diametrically opposed duets which thematise feminine energy, resilience and perspective. This scene will then prioritise performances for children, delivered by artists from Italy, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.
