Senate – Open Day

Wallenstein Palais

Every year, on the occasion of the national holidays of 8 May and 28 October, the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic organises an Open Day for the public. In addition to the historical spaces of the Wallenstein Palace (which you can see every Saturday), you can also visit the normally inaccessible spaces, the Meeting Hall or the Kolovrat Palace.

In the Wallenstein Palace you can see the Main Hall, the Knights’ and Audience Halls, the Mythological Corridor, various lounges and other interesting places.

In the Kolovrat Palace – which is normally not open to the public, as it is used for committee meetings and meetings with Czech and foreign guests – you can see, for example, the Pink and Green Lounges. On 30 September 1938, the government, headed by General Jan Syrový, held an extraordinary meeting in the Green Room, where it was informed about the Munich Agreement. During the war, the Kolovrat Palace was devastated by the Gestapo and the government meetings had to be moved to the Straka Academy (where the government still meets today). Since 1996 it has been part of the seat of the Czech Senate.

Entrance is free.
