Liechtenstein-Palais – Kampa

  • gratis

The Liechtenstein Palace in Prague’s Kampa district will reopen to the public in 2026 for a few select days, offering a unique opportunity to explore its state rooms and rich history. The tour route includes the Blue Salon, the Kampa Salon, the Golden and Brown Halls, and the Garden Salon, with the tour ending with a picturesque view of the Vltava River and Charles Bridge. Visitors will learn about the palace’s history, which dates back to the 16th century, as well as its current function as a government representative building that hosts conferences and protocol events and serves as accommodation for important foreign delegations. In the past, guests have included, for example, King Juan Carlos of Spain and his wife Sofia, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, and Emperor Akihito of Japan and Empress Michiko.

The Liechtenstein Palace was built on a hexagonal floor plan between 1697 and 1698, designed by the Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi for the Kaiserstein noble family. The palace changed owners several times, and among its last aristocratic owners were the Liechtensteins, who owned the palace between 1831 and 1864. It was then purchased by miller František Odkolek, who rebuilt it into its current form. Between 1979 and 1991, the palace was renovated according to a design by architect Kamil Fuchs to serve the needs of the Government Office.
