Austrian electronic duo Kruder & Dorfmeister, creators of the iconic late-’90s compilation The K&D Sessions, are heading to Prague. While the Viennese scene at the time leaned heavily into techno, Kruder & Dorfmeister drew from more laid-back rhythms — blending ’80s dance music, hip hop, breakbeat, and nu-jazz influences. Returning to Prague after eight years, they are the first act announced for the 2025 autumn edition of the Mladí ladí jazz series. The Austrian producer and DJ duo Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister have been creating and performing as Kruder & Dorfmeister since the 1990s. They made a name for themselves with their debut release, G-Stoned, notable for its Afro-jazz influences and echoes of 1960s and ’70s Pink Floyd. To date, they have released ten albums and two compilations, consistently pushing genre boundaries. From the very beginning, their focus has been on creating a distinctive and personal sound, where fitting into specific genres is secondary. Still, their music leans most recognisably toward downtempo electronica, breakbeat, and hip hop infused with jazz elements. They are also acclaimed for their innovative approach to remixing, with standout remixes of tracks by Madonna and Depeche Mode, among others.
