The villa of Karel Kramář, will open its doors to the public on the first Saturday of September, with additional open day on the first Saturday of October. Visitors will have the chance to step into spaces where key figures of both Czech and international politics have met. In addition to a guided tour of the villa’s grand interiors, guests can also enjoy a unique panoramic view of the Vltava River and Prague’s historic city center.

The villa of Karel Kramář (1860–1937), the first Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia, is undoubtedly a striking landmark of the Letná panorama. Although architecturally difficult to categorize — blending Neo-Baroque style with distinct Art Nouveau elements — it is considered one of the most notable examples of Prague’s villa architecture. The villa was built between 1911 and 1915, based on a design by architect Friedrich Ohmann. The final appearance of the interiors was strongly influenced by the taste of Kramář’s Russian wife, Nadezhda Nikolayevna. In the 1990s, the villa underwent a complete renovation and today regularly hosts prominent world leaders and serves as the venue for official receptions held by the Prime Minister.

The 700-square-meter residence originally included 56 rooms, featuring private bedrooms and studies, several dining rooms, salons, halls, guest rooms, and even a Russian-style billiards hall.

After the death of the Kramář couple in 1938, the villa became the property of the Karel Kramář Society. In the late 1930s, it was administered by the National Museum, and in 1952 it was assigned to the Office of the Government Presidium. During this period, it was used primarily for hosting and accommodating state visitors. Following a major renovation in the 1990s, the villa has served as the official residence of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic since 1998. Today, it remains a place where the Prime Minister meets with important foreign dignitaries.
