The traditional Christmas performance of the Jaro Dance Group is a tribute to the richness and beauty of folk traditions, brought to life through carefully crafted choreography. On stage, characters closely tied to Advent and Christmas come alive: Saint Lucy, Ambrož, the Perchty, the Barborky, Mary, and shepherds making their way toward Bethlehem. Even an Angel might appear. The ensemble presents Czech cultural heritage and dance art with deep respect for tradition, while connecting dancers, musicians, and audiences across generations. Throughout the evening, dancers of all ages will take part — from children o youth and adult members of the group. The performance will be accompanied by the music of Muzika Jara, led by artistic director Karel Mezera. Jaro Dance Group, directed by Živana Vajsarová, has been active in Prague since 1983. Over more than forty years of its artistic journey, the ensemble has earned numerous awards both in the Czech Republic and abroad. It collaborates with dancers from Hong Kong and Japan and has captivated audiences at home and around the world. Among the countries the ensemble has visited are Germany, the Netherlands, Cyprus, the United States, Japan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. More: www.jaro-dance.cz
